We're all average; the difference is in the grace and discipline we give ourselves.
Allow yourselves the empathy you allow others. Your best is quite relative to different days. Days you give 100% or 50% are both important. Consistency is king! But never at our detriments.
Hello dear,
How are you? (You already know I won't take the usual "I'm fine, thank you!", as I’m asking this as genuinely as possible). So how are you, really? How has everything around you been? Hope you're having a great start to the second quarter of the year?
As for me, maybe by the time you'd get this I'm still tired (as in burnout) or I'm better (fine at least), I'm still on the quest for peace and rest, anyway. I wish us all balance!
Truly, data is the new oil but algorithm data works insanely. The rate at which you think your private discourse is private until they show up in your face is a pointer to no secret life we are avoiding.
There might be nothing as secret or confidentiality anywhere in the world, just like there is no more neutrality in the world. You either have to be part of the solution, or you're going to be part of the problem (Eldridge Cleaver).
I was scrolling through the timeline on Twitter when I came across a picture tweet about my recent concern and confusion. This picture made me feel like a human, and we like things that make us feel human.
The tweet encapsulates all I've been struggling with and beating myself on since sometimes. The tweet depicts what showing-up (consistency) means in our imagined world and what it should mean in our reality.
We've all sort of believed that "Not giving the same 100% at all days makes you a mediocre". Well, maybe not!
We think it is more comforting to live like this (showing up at your best each day which can be different), but comfort is a drug and there is no replacement for hard work and effort. We attach too much to some values (discipline, consistency) and then go low on some other others (self-care and esteem). Quite hilarious!
True, we should have something we've vowed or are willing to show up for every day. What we consider showing up goes a long way in determining how we do so.
But there is this guilt feeling that comes with not doing what you think you wanted to do well. We've got this mentality that showing up daily is not enough unless we show up and give our best.
Well, while we might have translated our best as 100% at all times. We shouldn't in any way forget the relativity of our best to many other things about our existence.
We create standards and get trapped In our standards (struggling and beating ourselves up), pathetic! The state you’re in at work has a huge impact on the level of work you can do.
"Always do your best" is the agreement? Yes! but that should be with the understanding that your best can vary on different days. Some days are better than others, the important thing is showing up with what you've got and giving it your best.
Rest is key 🔑
Peace is unequalled 🦋
Consistency is king 👑
Balance is the essence of all!
Cheers 🥂 to finding the all-around harmony to leading a peaceful and successful life with discipline, consistency, and self-care (rest).
With so much love ❤️
Mustapha.

Woow very insightful alas! I can water down my troubles
Thank you for saying out loud like it matter. So much expectation on WHAT we are and less for WHO we are/becoming doing the things we do.
Hopefully, the world learn this truth and we become more human.
